The family of varnishes refers to a category of products used to protect, highlight and beautify different types of surfaces, such as wood, metal, ceramic or stone. Varnish is a transparent substance that is applied to the surface of an object to form a protective and decorative layer. Varnishes are composed of a resin (such as alkyd resin, acrylic resin, or polyurethane resin), solvents, additives, and pigments in some cases. These components work together to provide properties such as wear resistance, moisture protection, durability, gloss and UV resistance.
